Our congregation also include others with responsibility to serve and lead who are not members of the Leadership Team.
Everyone who believes in and follows Jesus is a member of his body, the Church. Committing to a fellowship as a member is a normal and responsible way of participating in God’s work. Here at River Church, we believe that we are called to do this under the anointing of the Holy Spirit, by releasing freedom and new life, in our community, our families and wherever God directs! Membership is important to us as our members have a responsibility to elect the trustees of the charity, River Christian Centre. As an Elim congregation, we are also expected to recognise membership as a mutual commitment under the terms of regular Christian life.
By committing to be a member of River Church, you:
Agree to contribute to the vision of River Church
Acknowledge a mutual responsibility to serve the congregation of the Church
Invite the pastoral ministry of the senior minister, leadership team and other members
Partner with the spiritual works of prayer, evangelism, deliverance and discipleship
Participate in annual elections to approve appointments to Church Leadership
Support the work of the church by giving in generosity of spirit
Stand in agreement with the Elim Foundational Truths
This commitment is answered by the commitment of the leadership team of the church to:
Value and make place for your spiritual gifts
Encourage, exhort and teach you, in godliness and spiritual growth
Honour God’s call upon your life
River church formed 2003 when two local congregations chose to merge: Elim Way Fellowship, Canning Town (est. c 1930) and the Mayflower Family Centre (est. 1894). Giving thanks for these two stories of one God's faithfulness, we operate under a rich inheritance.

We have our own Christian bookshop you can visit after service on a Sunday where, among many other books, you can find copies of books written by our own church members, including these:
